What Other Options For Engagement Rings Are There Besides Diamond?

Brought to you by antique emerald cut diamond rings.

If you wanna go ahead and ask this question congratulate yourself very few people ever stop to think about many beautiful options available to them when buying an engagement ring. Most people look to the basics because they normally only have one choice.

Although most rings are mundane a thrifty couple can introduce romance and make a new symbol, new choices, and save money to be invested in their new union by choosing a unique set of wedding rings.

There are three groups of rings to select from if you opt to do so. You can choose a ring with no stone: a simple band that will harmonize with a wedding band, perhaps engraved with words that matter to you, or embossed with a pattern that appeals and coordinates with your wedding band choices.

Bands can be examined along with the wedding sets and you can mix and match, or you can duplicate by turning a single band into a double band.  Most original designers would love the opportunity to design a dual band set, and this will likely save you money which could go toward the stone.

You can purchase synthetic stones that look like diamonds or be a bit less traditional and consider other gorgeous stones.

Stones that are commonly used as diamond substitutes include the very popular cubic zirconium, which is heavier than diamond though it wears less well and can discolor over time. That is the single, most popular diamond substitute today and it is beautiful to wear.

Moissanite, a synthetically produced stone based on a gem found in the heart of a meteorite, is also superb, though more expensive than cubic zirconium stones. The stone is slightly harder than diamond, twice as brilliant (a factor that increases its beauty but does lead to identification by those who prefer the muted fire of a diamond), and refracts lightness somewhat differently, directing whatever group to find that it has a sick chromatic color. It is mostly a persons own style which dictates the pros and cons of Moissanite.

Used as a diamond substitute for over a hundred years are white sapphires. The white sapphire is a beautiful stone in itself and the beauty of it is it can be cut just like a diamond but one must be aware that it is softer and less durable.

If you want to purchase precious stones other than diamonds or their lookalikes, then there is no limits to your options other than the ones you impose on yourself. Because the rock will be on a finger all the time after a while its a good idea to choose stones with strength.

A color that goes well with the range of colors often worn is wise. The entire world of fine stones can open for you beyond that. How about looking at a star sapphire or ruby, another choice of carborundum, as possible choices. Of course! This is a gorgeous variation in comparison to a faceted diamond stone. What about a carved jade gemstone in a solid gold mounting? Jade comes in an abundance of colors and is everlasting.

Engagement rings come in many shapes and styles. Only your opinion and your beloved’s opinion matter – this is your engagement ring! If either of you thinks “oh, blah, diamond” or “we could spend the money so much more wisely,” then it is time to start discussing the many choices open to you.
